SUMMARY:

In Brazil, the region of the Far South of Bahia, and specifically the city of Porto Seguro, is known worldwide for its importance in the country's colonization process and for its still preserved natural beauty. Present since the arrival of the Portuguese, the original peoples are the legitimate defenders of the natural resources existing in their territories. Currently, due to the city's real estate expansion, the territories of these people have undergone several transformations that alter their cultural and environmental dynamics. Among environmental resources, water, due to its material and immaterial value for these people, receives special treatment in this research. The adoption of citizen science with the direct participation of the Pataxó indigenous community of Aldeia da Jaqueira, placed them as main actors; fundamental cooperation regarding the results obtained and the exchange of knowledge between traditional knowledge and academia. The proposal of this research seeks, through technological transfer and technical training of the Pataxó people, associated with the knowledge acquired over the centuries by their ancestors, to monitor the quality of the waters of the Itinga River, the main river that bathes Aldeia da Jaqueira, through physical-chemical parameters collected and transmitted to the internet by the village itself. As it was field research, the immersive methodology in the village was fundamental for understanding the Pataxó people's vision of the Itinga River and technological transfer, leading to significant results. As results achieved and through citizen science, the protagonism of the Pataxó people in research stands out, which naturally leads them to involvement in the other stages with methods of collecting, storing and making parameters of the Itinga River available to the world. The establishment of a partnership between indigenous knowledge and academic knowledge was able to foster a technological solution that makes public data on the quality of its natural resources, specifically its water bodies, as well as being able to present a proposal for its own local legislation in order to meet needs. specific areas of natural resources on indigenous lands.
