RESUMO:

The research object of this dissertation is the Accessible Digital Textbook, in ePub3 format, distributed by the Ministry of Education of Brazil (MEC) to the visually impaired students through the National Textbook Program (PNLD-2018). The objective of this research is to analyze, in three distinct chapters: 1) the trajectories that generated this specific object, regarding the timelines of the Book and its derivatives: the Textbook and the Accessible Book; 2) the Ministry of Education policies related to the Accessible Digital Textbook; 3) and the pedagogical possibilities in the universalization of Accessible Digital Textbook to other public school students, based on the current ePub3 format adopted by MEC (2019), to become a Universal Design Book, in order to contemplate all students, beyond the ones visually impaired. As a method, a bibliographical review concerning the Brazilian digital textbook will be performed as an element that is found in the intertwining of the textbook, accessible book and digital book distinct timelines. Academic articles concerning MEC's policies for theaccessible textbook are also in the scope of this research. In addition, the official MEC documents, streamlining the guidelines for the digital textbook, will be analyzed, as well as the government edicts of the National Textbook Program (PNLD) that materialize those policies. Finally, the main agents working in the production of accessible digital textbook will be interviewed, in order to better understand the technical and pedagogical potentialities of the ePubformat, regarding a future adoption of a Universal Design Textbook for all Brazilian public schools students.
