According to the World Health Organization– WHO (2011), violence is defined as “the intentional use of physical force or power, threatened or actual, against oneself, another person, or against a group or community that could result in in or has a high likelihood of resulting in death, injury, psychological harm, developmental problems or deprivation”. (WHO, 2011). Violence against women is a major public health problem and a violation of human rights, affecting women's rights to life, dignity, physical integrity and affecting their health. (BRAZIL, 2006). Actions to combat violence against women concerns the implementation of broad and articulated policies that seek to account for the complexity of violence against women in all its expressions, with care networks being fundamental for women to find support for break the cycle of violence. The objective of this work is to understand the institutional processes of care for victims of gender violence, based on the experience of women and professionals from the institutions involved, in the city of Porto Seguro, Bahia. This project aims at a qualitative approach and will be carried out with interviews with women in attendance at the Reference Center for Assistance to Women (CRAM) and with the professionals involved in this process, considering that overcoming the situation of violence experienced by women is not an individual and solitary process and the literature points out the importance of personal and institutional support and protection networks.
