SUMMARY:

This paper aims to analyze how Environmental Education (EE) has been integrated into high school following the High School Reform established by Law 13,415/2017. The New High School (NEM) introduced significant changes to the curricular structure and approach to EE at this level of education. These transformations, based on the Common National Curricular Base (BNCC), have been the target of significant criticism from experts and educators in the field. They focus primarily on the restriction of EE as a cross-curricular subject, its lack of mandatory inclusion in schools, and the market-driven nature of its curricular organization, especially with regard to the Training Itineraries established in the BNCC. The specific objectives of this research were: 1) to conduct a historical analysis of the integration of EE into Brazilian education; 2) to conduct a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) emphasizing pedagogical activities for the meaningful implementation of EE in schools; 3) and examine a Training Itinerary (FI) focused on EE in high school, highlighting its potential and implications for schools. To this end, the research uses a diverse and qualitative methodology, combining literature review with document analysis. Thus, it seeks to contribute to the discussion surrounding the quality and development of EE in schools. The results hope to identify and systematize significant pedagogical activities in the field, as well as understand the role of Training Itineraries in the implementation of EE in schools.
