SUMMARY:

This work is a research memorial, entitled “Collective wall of resistance to subalternity: art as an educational experience”. The research proposal presents the objective of building an artistic mural with co-authorship of students, proposing historical reflections from the perceptions of black resistance identified in the school community of the State College of Integral Time Homero Pires, in the municipality of Prado/BA. The project starts from the personal perspective of its author, the artist Maria Carolina Nascimento, who built her history, from childhood, through the paths of the fine arts and transposed this relationship with art to her experiences in the classroom as an educator. Since she discovered in the artistic walls a powerful instrument for learning in educational and everyday environments, the artist have carried out collective experiments of wall construction. Therefore, this memorial will bring records of how its trajectory culminated in the proper research project. As the name already suggests, the mural will be carried out collectively, with the participation of students of the State College of Integral Time Homero Pires, from a workshop held on site, where they will be addressed as a generating theme “the black resistance in Brazil and its relationship with the school community”. The reflections and all the methodological process of the workshop will culminate in the mural designed and painted by the students and the researcher. To underpin the decolonial proposal of the project and reflect on the epistemic violence suffered by the subaltern, or even challenge this place of subalternity, the contribution of theorists such as Spivak (2010), Maldonado-Torres (2017), Lucini and Oliveira (2021), Dulci and Malheiros (2021), Alves and Correia Alves (2020) will be necessary. Thinking the art, the walls and educational debates will be essential dialogues with Nogueira Silva (2022), Bell Hooks (2013), Pereira (1952), Uberti (2012) and other authors will glimpse during the reading. As part of the professional master’s degree of PPGER – UFSB, it was necessary to think of a product resulting from the entire research procedure, in addition to the mural in the school community, another resulting product will be the audiovisual production demonstrating the entire path of the application of the research.
