RESUMO:

The intense urban pressure, which has become more pronounced in the last decades in the Municipality of Porto Seguro, has directly impacted the
environment. Anthropogenic actions, in small or large scale, in general for the implementation of hotel developments, illegal and disorderly territorial
occupation and expansion of agricultural frontiers, especially for eucalyptus silviculture, imply the suppression of the vegetation that compose the natural
ecosystems causing impacts to biodiversity of the Atlantic Forest and the coastal ecosystems of the Extreme South of Bahia. It is in this region and in the
surrounding municipalities that the National Parks of Discovery, Monte Pascoal and Pau Brasil are delimited, forming an ecological corridor of the
Atlantic Forest Reserves of the Discovery Coast, inscribed as World Heritage by UNESCO. In the extreme south region of Bahia we find a great
diversity of ecosystems, with emphasis on the Atlantic Forest in its different successional states and ecosystems associated with the marine influence,
such as manguezais and restinga. The systemic ordering of the landscape, a strategic process of directing actions for the construction of the desired
landscape, ultimately entails drawing up a collective project of the desired landscape, corresponding to a more coherent view of urban interventions,
replacing specific actions without a view to more general impacts, interrelating cultural and environmental policies and legitimized by the community,
either through a better understanding of the community's image of the territory or of direct participation in decision-making and construction of
management models. This paper intends to answer some questions, among them if there are relevant changes in the landscape of the National Park of
Monte Pascoal, if we can consider the park as a landscape system and consequently as a cultural landscape in approach to its management strategies and
if the anthropic actions that imply in alterations in the environment interfere in the values attributed to the place and in its cultural significance. The
reading of the environmental image of the delimited territory of the National Historical Park of Monte Pascoal can indicate that the natural and cultural
values, once attributed, underwent changes that resulted in the change of the landscape and its re-signification and that can lead to new strategies for a
territorial management . In order to do so, case studies will be carried out, evaluating actions in which the public authorities recognized that there were
changes to the environment, especially those that caused damage to natural ecosystems with negative impacts on the biodiversity of the Atlantic Forest
and coastal ecosystems of the studied area; interviews will be conducted with the purpose of synthesizing the updated environmental image from mental
maps and structured questionnaires; the researches in public archives, collecting information about how the environmental and patrimonial management
by the several institutions in the territory under study and bibliographic survey will be carried out, deepening the discussion from the literature that is
necessary within the research area. The information obtained could provide substantial subsidies to civil society, public authorities and managers in
decision-making and strategic planning that integrate the environmental and cultural sphere, making park management more coherent with observed
reality and actions more efficient.
