RESUMO:

Waste is currently one of the biggest environmental problems related to methane gas (CH4) emissions, one of the main greenhouse gases, due to the population increase and consequently the increase of solid waste generation. The objective of this project will be the methane emission measure through a methane capture chamber system, as well as the characterization of the solid waste produced in Porto Seguro - BA, which was made through the analysis of the gravimetric composition by the sample quartering method on the waste production. With the data obtained from the characterization and gravimetry, a modeling software was used to create the mathematical model for methane gas by the IPCC methodology, producing dynamic models for estimating solid waste production and CH4 emission from the dump over the next 20 years. With the dynamic chamber system, methane emission in the dump area will be measured and the values will be used in geostatistical software, through the kriging interpolation process, to graphically represent the highest and lowest methane gas emission points. The results may contribute to the implementation of social and environmental public policies and the preparation of the Integrated Solid Waste Management Plan of the municipality as well as projects for the use of biogas.
