RESUMO:

This paper aims to discuss the challenges for the permanence and success of racial quota holders at the Federal Institute of Bahia, Eunápolis campus. Considering that the white space of privilege kill each other captive in the Institute, the research provokes reflection on the dropout rates among the racial segments that make up the classrooms of the Professional Education integrated to the High School. It seeks to reaffirm and broaden the debate on racial quotas, rescuing memories, understanding how the arduous process of schooling of blacks, pleased changes towards their "freedom". Authors such as Bastos (2016), Fonseca (2002), Santos (2008) and Munanga (2001), among others, point out the discussions that trigger the thought education for blacks and indigenous people in the still exclusionary and discriminatory contemporary society. It is necessary to consider the new bodies that enter the space of the Institute. Therefore, the intervention process proposes educational experiences aimed at developing scientific skills, strengthening cultural identities and recognizing the contributions of Afro-Brazilian and indigenous knowledge to education.
