MUKÁ-MUKAÚ – IN FAVOR OF OUR MOTHER EARTH
Pataxó histories and cultures; afro-indigenous stories and cultures; art-education; theater.
This is the presentation of a research process developed on the Graduate Program in Teaching and Ethnic-Racial Relations of the Federal University of Southern Bahia, which focuses on the histories and cultures of the Pataxó people in Cumuruxatiba, in order to build an artistic-scenic show that is capable of questioning the hegemonic versions of brazilian historiography and presenting another historical version from the perspective of these communities. The work is based on the principles of Teatro Experimental do Negro, by Abdias do Nascimento, and on Teatro do Oprimido, by Augusto Boal, understanding theater as a powerful tool for knowledge and for social transformation. Seeking to promote a horizontal and involving research process in the construction of knowledge, methodologically, we dialogue with: 1) the fundamental principles of Pedagogy of the Oppressed, by Paulo Freire, 2) the arsenal of exercises and theatrical games of the Teatro do Oprimido, by Augusto Boal and 3) Socio-poetics, by Jacques Gauthier. Given the ephemerality of the theatrical presentation, we will also have a dramaturgical script as a product that will allow these stories to be relived and retold in several other moments, places and people, as well as inspiring the writing of other historical versions from the perspective of other social groups that had their cultural identities subordinated.
