RESUMO:

This work presents the partial result of an investigation still ongoing on ethnic-racial relations in the teaching of chemistry. From the analysis of high school chemistry textbooks used by teachers in public schools in the city of Porto Seguro-BA, our objective was to investigate the contribution of their content in the construction of a decolonized chemistry teaching and in accordance with Law 10,639 from the year 2003. As it is a professional master's project, the completed dissertation will accompany a final pedagogical product, still under construction. This product was first conceived in the form of an e-book to be distributed free over the internet, containing examples of didactic / pedagogical sequences, in relation to the decolonization of Chemistry Teaching. The objective was to promote, through the representativeness of thesepeoples in the educational curriculum, reflection on the importance of blacks and indigenous peoples in the construction of Brazilian society and to combat prejudices and racial discrimination. However, these affirmative actions, the result of the struggle of black and indigenous movements and on the part of Brazilian society, still need adjustments, as has been discussed in works by authors such as Silva (2015), Bragia (2013) and Prudêncio (2019), between others.
