SUMMARY:

The purpose of this work is a concern that afflicts me as an information professional and as a black person. The invisibility of the memory and culture of Afro-Brazilian and indigenous peoples in the official history of Brazil told at school and reproduced by textbooks, newspapers, magazines and the mainstream media. From my place of speaking as an Afro-Brazilian person, I identify that in a society marked by episodes of racism, feminicide, homophobia and intolerances of all kinds, it is essential that we have mechanisms that contribute to overcoming the barbarities that are happening in our daily lives. We cannot naturalize the look in the face of so many injustices. In this perspective, providing information that allows the community to know, learn and expand their knowledge about the Afro-Brazilian and indigenous culture of the Extreme South of Bahia is to provide opportunities for the development of a critical and reflective awareness that allows interference and action in the face of problems locations. In view of the above, as a librarian and coordinator of a public university library, I perceive and am concerned with the lack of electronic collections that enable and disseminate the knowledge produced about the Afro-Brazilian and indigenous population of the Extreme South of Bahia, based on the analysis of the production of PPGER, from its implementation in 2017 to 2022. I believe that building a virtual library can be enriching for the entire population of the region
