TRADITION OF THE OFÍCIO IN THE QUILOMBO OF HELVÉCIA: THE SEAM BETWEEN THE WORLDS OF THE LIVING AND THE DEAD
Ofício; Helvécia; Religiosity; Quilombo
The present research addresses the death rituals of the quilombola community of Helvécia from the point of view of the ofício, a traditional black manifestation of extreme relevance that was formed through an appropriation of Catholic rites. Investigations on oral memory and the experience of its practitioners will be mobilized here, in an auto-ethnography, since the author is also a quilombola and a practitioner of the craft. In the analysis, the objective is to identify the original elements of this tradition and to identify how an Afro-Brazilian culture was formed in this community in the extreme south of Bahia. The final product will be an e-book of records and reflections aimed at teachers and residents of the community, in order to encourage and support future learning.
