SUMMARY:

This dissertation research deals with the use of biography for History Teaching, from a decolonial, situated and anti-racist perspective. Teresa Malatian (2008) points out that biography is a very interesting resource in the classroom, as it provides an understanding of social relations, present in society through the individual trajectory of individuals, but which allows us to understand historical issues. In this sense, in this work we propose the discussion of biographies of subjects enslaved during modern slavery, between the 16th and 19th centuries and in contemporary times, articulating their use for teaching history in high school. The proposal is based on Law 10.639/03, BNCC curricular parameters, on the guidelines for the education of Ethnic-Racial Relations in Brazil, dialoguing with anti-racist and decolonial studies in GOMES (2012), QUIJANO (2005) and bell hooks (2010) , based on a transformative and critical education that allows students to build memory and value black identity. The research is based on the Action Research methodology from TRIPP (2005). The artifact produced will be used in Indigenous, African and Afro-Brazilian History and Culture classes, as well as History, including an e-book, which contains biographies produced from handwritten and newspaper sources, of seven black characters, five of whom women, a man and one who today we would call a trans woman, this artifact was produced to be used with students in the 1st year class at Escola Estadual Paulo Freira, a school located in the municipality of Itabela-BA.
