BROWN IDEOLOGY AS A WAY OF WHITENING BLACK SOCIETY IN THE FAR SOUTH OF BAHIA: NARRATIVES OF STUDENTS AND TEACHERS FROM STATE PERIPHERAL SCHOOLS OF TEIXEIRA DE FREITAS
brown-skinned; racial equality; racism; whiteness; Blackness.
This paper discusses the historicity of the Black population in Brazilian society, correlating their trajectory with their social struggles. It provides an analysis of the concept of brown-skinned ideology as a mechanism of whitening this population, developed by the "whiteness" that seeks to establish its privileges of slave owners. The absence of brown-skinned representation resonates in the silencing of the Black movement, as this ethnic category remains a limbo for any social movements. It is noteworthy that regardless of being Black or brown-skinned, both face racism in Brazilian society, but being categorized and brown is an attempt to escape the historical narratives of the Black population.
