The uncontrolled use of natural resources, degradation of urban and rural areas, without 
the establishment of mitigation measures and the inadequate methodology of 
conservation and land use, cause the acceleration of processes of environmental 
degradation to occur. The objective of this work is to analyze the ecology of landscapes, 
in a geographical and multitemporal approach. The municipality of Ilhéus is located in 
the south of Bahia, approximately 454.4 km from the capital Salvador. It is internationally 
recognized for its natural beauty and scenic potential, with emphasis on cocoa farming,
 tourism, real estate projects and major engineering works, such as the East-West railway 
and the Porto Sul intermodal system. For this work, data and information from the
 historical series of the Mapbiomas project were used as a basis, including aerial
 photographs of the Executive Committee of the Cocoa Crop Plan (CEPLAC) and 
LANDSAT satellite images, in versions 5, 7 and 8 , from the SENTINEL 2-B satellite,
 and more recently from CBERS - 4, integrated and processed in a Geographic Information
 System environment through QGIS Software version 3.22.4 and ArcGis PRO. The
 supervised classification allowed the multitemporal analysis of the study area, through 
geoprocessing techniques and field activities. Understanding and monitoring land use and 
land cover is fundamental for understanding patterns of space organization, for
sustainable planning of environments and definition of public policies. The aim of this
 work is to present a socio-environmental diagnosis, identify public policies for 
environmental issues in the municipality, contribute to studies of landscape
 dynamics for sustainable planning of environments and definition of public policies.
