SUMMARY:

Climate change has led to an increase in the severity of extreme weather events in recent decades. Increasingly frequent episodes of flooding caused by very intense rainfall represent one of the most dangerous environmental risks for communities in social vulnerability, where the pressures of poverty force people to settle in areas of danger. With the objective of evaluating the perception of flood risk, attachment to the place and preventive behavior, a descriptive and exploratory study will be carried out, in which individuals will be interviewed randomly, door-to-door, in communities with a high rate of social vulnerability and exposed to the risk of flooding in the municipalities of Ilhéus, Itabuna, Itamaraju, Teixeira de Freitas and Ubaitaba. Through non-probabilistic sampling, it is estimated that a total of 250 people directly affected by the floods that occurred between December 2021 and March 2022 will be interviewed. risk of flooding, attachment to the site and preventive behavior. For the treatment of quali-quantitative data, descriptive analyzes will be adopted, combined with statistical calculations of Cronbach's alpha, Kruskal Wallis test and ordinal regression. The proposition of this project aims to contribute to the scientific literature in the production of data capable of directing public authorities and civil society in conducting processes of urban transformation, and in the (re)formulation of public policies.
