SUMMARY:

Despite not being popular, but as impactful as oil from large refineries, contaminated lubricant oil residues - OLUC have generated serious environmental problems as a result of their indiscriminate disposal that pollutes soil, rivers and springs. The need for proper management of lubricating oils in Brazil is increasingly evident. With the creation of Law 12,305, which establishes the National Solid Waste Policy, shared responsibility for the life cycle of this product and its reverse logistics was created. This mechanism becomes easier to implement when we deal with the oil change routinely done through the fuel station structures, which does not reflect the reality faced by the fishing community with their vessels, with the fisherman himself being responsible for the exchange, storage and disposal of contaminated lubricating oil. The lack of incentive, information, education and structure for the correct disposal of this waste contributes negatively to its disposal in inappropriate places such as rivers, seas and sidewalks, thus dangerously facilitating the contact of people, animals and the environment, with a waste classified as hazardous by NBR 10004. The proper management of solid waste needs to be encouraged and accessible to the general population, in the case of hazardous waste such as lubricating oil, it becomes even more important to create policies and actions aimed at facilitating its management. The present study aims to present a model of voluntary delivery point (PEV) of contaminated lubricating oil in traditionally fishing coastal towns, for voluntary receipt of contaminated lubricating oil, with the aim of facilitating and popularizing the reverse logistics of this waste, avoiding human contamination. and environmental and based on a case study of the “Casa do Oil” project carried out by the Municipal Environment Department of Alcobaça in Bahia.
