SUMMARY:

Background: Context: The Motor Cognitive Risk Syndrome (MCR), considered an early pre-dementia syndrome, arises after the association of gait abnormalities with the organic impairment of vascular structures. The evaluation of cognition in the elderly is a crucial element for understanding the aging process, often used to quantify and monitor cognitive changes over time, allowing for more precise therapeutic intervention. It is essential that these evaluation methods are continuously reviewed and updated to reflect the latest findings in neuroscience and gerontology, thus ensuring a more accurate analysis of cognition in the elderly population. The study aims to describe the motor and cognitive development scales used in association for the Motor Cognitive Risk Syndrome, in different study environments, these being distinct geographical locations. Methods: The research begins with a research question, which is elaborated and defined by the PICO strategy. Research published in Portuguese, English, and Spanish, in humans, in the last 20 years, from November 1, 2003, to November 1, 2023, will be included; all research that does not relate the cognitive and motor scales with the Motor Cognitive Risk Syndrome, arbitrary data, and with a dubious method, as well as studies that are not in line with the project’s objective, will be excluded. Data sources include Medline, Cochrane Library, Pepsic, Web of Science, SciElo, and Embase. The study includes elderly people who have undergone cognitive and motor evaluation scales in search of the Motor Cognitive Risk Syndrome. The articles will be selected according to the search code defined by the PICO strategy, followed by stages of study evaluation, according to the PRISMA flowchart. The research will evaluate the quality and possible biases of the studies using various validated scales. For Randomized Clinical Cases, the RoB 2.0 scale will be used, and for non-randomized interventions, the ROBINS-I scale. Both will be validated by the PEDro scale. In Case Control studies, the Newcastle Ottawa Scale will be used, and validation by the QUADAS scale of the Joanna Briggs Institute - JBI. In the screening stage, Phase 1 begins with the reading of titles and abstracts, also excluding incomplete texts or those not compatible with the study’s objective. Phase 2 involves a thorough study of each article, with complete and detailed reading. The data, after passing through the selection, will be aligned in the form of a pre-structured table with selection criteria and characterization of each study in categorical columns. Expected Results: The research seeks new scientific evidence for the Motor Cognitive Risk Syndrome, using evaluation scales as a diagnosis. The aim is to contribute to the development of future research, facilitate clinical management, and address human aging. The results will be published and presented at congresses, as well as being sent to qualis A1 to A4 journals, in the interdisciplinary area. Review Registration: The review registration in PROSPERO is in process.
