RESUMO:

Cultural policies began in Brazil in the 1930s, but until the 1980s only the monuments representing the "stone and lime" era were selected to represent the Brazilian cultural heritage, that is, the goods selected for represent cultural heritage valued the colonial past and the national theme, in addition, occurred the objectification of the idea of nation and the notion of patrimony was restricted to material goods / material culture. It was only in 1986 that the first black monument, Ilê Axé Iyá Nassô Oká (Terreiro da Casa Branca), in the municipality of Salvador, was definitively overturned. The first tipping represented small ruptures in cultural heritage thinking in Brazil, a break with the white, European and elitist pattern, and the discussions undertaken by
society, especially in the 1980s, allowed the insertion of cultural rights for the first time in the text constitutional. However, of the architectural assets listed by IPHAN, 40% refer to the Christian matrix and only 1% to Afrodescendant culture, including terreiros and quilombos. The thesis will focus on the study of the Politics of Preservation of the Heritage of Afro-Brazilian Religions, with emphasis on the Tombamento and Special Registry of Candomblé Terreiros, realized by the Institute of National Historical and Artistic Patrimony (IPHAN) and Institute of Artistic and Cultural Patrimony of Bahia (IPAC), and has as main axes of discussion: coloniality, racism, memory and resistance.
