Experiences and Perceptions of the population of Teixeira de Freitas: a look at the theory of collective effectiveness in the neighborhood of São Lourenço

The research on the experiences and perceptions of the population of the municipality of Teixeira de Freitas, Bahia, concentrated its research in the neighborhood of São Lourenço, to verify the dimensions of the theory of collective effectiveness. The literature has reported the possible association of high crime rates with several factors, among which can be mentioned: the process of urbanization /configuration of neighborhoods, economicine qualities, impersonality of relationships, changes in family structure, easy access to firearms, police violence, social stress, among others. Therefore, it is urgent that research can be conducted in order to provide information so that researchers, managers and public security agents can study, understand and treat the problem of violence. For this, it is necessary an ecological study, comparison of multiple groups and analytical character, with a view to diagnostic air the perception of bonds and experiences between residents ofthe neighborhood of São Lourenço in Teixeira de Freitas, through an electronic research applied within the census tracts of the neighborhood, considering the phenomena revealed in the neighborhood and the theoretical framework of collective effectiveness. It is, therefore, the construction of an important database in order to provide sufficient information about the perceptions about the prevalence of certain types of crimes, the rates of underreporting and the degree of knowledge and evaluation of the population in relation to local structures, such as public security institutions. It is expected that suchinformation willbe used to support processes of implementation of actions and public policies and support to social planning. It also has the scope of, in addition to the claim of diagnosis, supported in sociology, seek to build valid explanations for the local community scenario.
