SUMMARY:
This research problematizes Gypsy mixed marriages from the perspective of women’s negotiations. After verifying the reduction in production on this specific theme, the investigation aims to contribute to the expansion and deepening of the following question: what modes of existence/resistance are produced by non-gypsy women in mixed marriages in front of matrimonial impositions required by the Gypsy culture? With the existing cultural dynamism and the changes that Gypsy groups are going through, the research focuses its attention on the narratives of four non-gypsy women, who are partners and collaborators of this work, seeking to accompany and understand the adaptation movements and ruptures that they have created with the ways of life characteristic of Gypsy culture.The general objective of the study is configured by the possibility of understanding the ways of existing/resisting constructed by non-gypsy women, in mixed marriages, in the face of the matrimonial impositions demanded in the Gypsy culture. The investigation benefits from the methodological support present in autobiographical narratives. The methodological choice is also justified because it is an approach that gives voice to women partners/collaborators, allowing them to speak for themselves, and valuing their singularities.
