AFRO-BAHIAN RHIZOMES: The Nossa Senhora dos Remédios Church of Cachoeira and the relationship between cultural heritage and AfroBrazilian religiosity.
Nossa Senhora dos Remédios Church. Heritage abandonment. Oral tradition. Candomblé. Transmethodology.
This master's thesis explores the issue of heritage abandonment at the Nossa Senhora dos Remédios Church in Cachoeira – Bahia. It specifically focuses on the impact of neglect on tradition preservation. The research investigates the church's historiography, cultural significance, and its connections with various cultural, social, and religious groups. The study examines the church's origins and influences through oral tradition and its interaction with both Catholicism and Candomblé. The methodology used is trans-methodology (by Alberto Efendy Maldonado), which integrates diverse fields of knowledge to understand the sociocultural significance and purpose of this dissertation. This project underscores the need to reconsider heritage preservation in unstable contexts, with the goal of sustaining the community's cultural and historical rhizomes.
