Strategies for Strengthening Primary Health Care in the Psychosocial Support Network in Teixeira de Freitas – BA.

Considering the importance of primary health care in the care of people affected by mental disorders, this study seeks to propose ways to strengthen mental health care in this essential scenario in the composition of the Psychosocial Support Network. In pursuit of this main objective, an extensive bibliographical review was carried out on the subject, and reviewing the entire trajectory of mental health care in Brazil until its current formation with the Psychosocial Support Network. The development of practical actions to strengthen mental health care through primary care is made up of two fronts, the first is based on continuing health education, where expository classes will be offered with the main topics of psychiatry, classes will be held by a specialized professional to the health professionals of a basic primary health care unit, where relevant topics such as diagnosis, treatment and management in emergency situations will be addressed. The second front of action for practical actions includes medical students from the Federal University of Southern Bahia (UFSB) who are part of the League of Psychiatry (LAPMED), after training with a professional psychiatrist, students will develop conversation circles with pregnant women who are prenatal care at the health unit related to the study. The main core of the conversation circles will be psychic development in the first years of life, in order to prepare future mothers to care for their babies, ensuring safety and protection, acting in a prophylactic way against mental illness.
