RESUMO:

Promoting sustainability in public administration is a great challenge, and with this in mind the Brazilian Federal Government published Decree No. 7.746/12, establishing criteria and practices for the promotion of sustainable national development, with direct, autarchic and foundational federal public administration being responsible for state companies dependent on the preparation and implementation of Sustainable Logistics Management Plans -PLS. By understanding that the Federal Institutions of Higher Education-IFES, can be good references, since it has a technical body with a higher level of education among the municipalities of public administration. This research looked at 67 IFES linked to the National Association of Directors of Federal Institutions of Higher Education-ANDIFES, in order to build the state of the art of PLS in the universe of IFES. We then turn our attention to the case of the Federal University of Southern Bahia-UFSB, with methodological support from participatory-action research, seeking to contribute, register and analyze the process of elaboration of the PLS at UFSB, pointing out the importance of defining education environmental as an initiative to be observed within the plan, bringing a critical look adjusted to the National Policy on Environmental Education - PNEA
