Evaluation of Factors Associated with Frailty in Elderly People with Diabetes

Resumo (Abstract) do trabalho em Inglês: Introduction: The aging process, associated with frailty syndrome and diabetes, can significantly impact the quality of life of elderly people, reducing their autonomy in daily activities and making them increasingly vulnerable. Objective: To analyze the factors associated with frailty in elderly people with diabetes in the city of Itamaraju, Bahia. Methodology: This is an analytical cross-sectional study. Elderly users with type 2 diabetes, registered in Basic Health Units in the city of Itamaraju, Bahia, will be invited to participate. The Edmonton Frail Scale will be used to assess participants' frailty, and an electronic form will be used to collect secondary data from participants' medical records as well as primary data, which will be completed by the researchers. This work is part of the umbrella project “Factors associated with frailty and foot risk in elderly people with diabetes in the city of Itamaraju, Bahia: a cross-sectional study,” submitted to CEP/UFSB in March 2023 with CAAE: 79286624.4.0000.8467. This study is expected to help characterize the participants' degree of frailty and the associated factors for better clinical monitoring.
