Territorialization of Cuni Coaraci: An analysis of access and affiliation of tier students

This paper presents the results of a research conducted with the purpose of identifying the profile, path, and trajectory of students at the University Colleges (Cunis) of the Federal University of Southern Bahia (UFSB) in the city of Coaraci, Bahia, Brazil. The study aims to understand how the process of territorialization can influence student affiliation and also to analyze the implementation proposal of Cunis and determine if the university has succeeded in reaching its target audience, as outlined in its guiding plan. The research involved 54 interviewees who enrolled in the university in the years 2014, 2016, and 2017. The findings of this study underscore the importance of Cunis in democratizing higher education, providing opportunities tailored to students from public schools, thereby contributing to social inclusion and reducing inequalities in access to higher education. Additionally, it examines the role of Cunis in reducing students' sense of alienation when entering higher education, by offering geographical proximity, familiarity with the environment, and support networks. The process of territorializing students in Cunis and their affiliation with UFSB are investigated as the research unfolds. Preliminary results highlight the challenges and affiliation strategies, as well as the significance of General Education (FG) in integrating students. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of the experience of UFSB's Cunis students, identifying factors that impact their academic affiliation and providing valuable insights to enhance the educational experience of these students within the University Colleges context.
