HYDRODYNAMICS OF A TROPICAL ESTUARY THROUGH NUMERICAL MODELING
Modeling, Hydrodynamics, Estuaries, Delft3d
The work presents the validation of the hydrodynamics of the Buranhém River estuary, comparing the simulation results with the DELFT3D-FLOW model, with the campaign carried out in the work "HYDRODYNAMICS OF THE ESTUÁRIO DO RIO BURANHÉM, PORTO SEGURO - BA" (Silva 2016). Being a pioneer the application of the model in the estuary requires a period of sensitivity simulations for adequacy of the resolution of the computational grid, of the data background roughness and turbulence. Calibration is the process of adjusting parameters of the model, in order to ensure a better agreement between the measured values and those presented by the model. In this step some adjustments may still occur, after this step, the model will be executed and no further adjustments will be allowed. With the obtained results the validation is carried out qualitatively, through graphical comparisons, and quantitatively, through statistical analysis. Validation is the basis for future work where the model can be applied for sediment transport and water quality analysis.
