RESUMO:

This research project is designed to study the traditional Indian sporting events, specifically the Pataxó Indigenous Games, held since 2000 in the state of Bahia. It aims to analyze their meanings and social meanings, from their creation to the present day, from the relationship between the process of ethnic reaffirmation and struggle for rights (territory and citizenship). In this perspective, it is emphasized that there are different ways of giving meanings and meanings to a manifestation, not only socially but also cosmologically. Its purpose is to give voice to the Pataxó, in order to deconstruct historically constructed stereotypes and document this ethno-sport manifestation in order to characterize it as an intangible cultural heritage. For this, the decolonial line of epistemological approach was chosen, in order to surpass modern Western thought, "abyssal". The research will have the sociopoetics of Jacques Gauthier as theoretical contribution. Data collection will be done through documentary research in libraries, books and articles, and especially through qualitative and descriptive field research. The analysis of the interviews will occur through the dynamics of the representations of the subjects and the MAXQDA and Bardin (2000) method. Based on these analyzes, we intend to prove the hypothesis that the Pataxó have been transforming the JIP of sport manifestation into a traditional cultural manifestation, and that different moral, emotional, political, cultural and historical aspects can influence the meanings of these games. The identity of JIPs, as well as ethnic identity, is an up-to-date construction in the daily life of relations between indigenous and non-indigenous peoples, creating networks of solidarity, reciprocity and contribute to the affirmation of their identity.
