RESUMO:

The concept of obstetric violence represents a current and controversial issue, provoking at
the same time debates in the social, scientific and political sphere in the health field on the
reproductive rights of women, being much debated by the health sciences and social science.
The history of women's social and political participation in health has been an important
way of confronting obstetric violence and inducing the humanization agenda in services.
The present study is based on social research to analyze and discuss the phenomenon of
obstetric violence and its confrontation in the context of attention to obstetric health marked
by acts of violence and deprivation of women's reproductive rights, based on a local and
current experience of political action carried out by a collective of women in the extremesouth
region of Bahia. Based on the methodology of the Case Study and using the
epistemological frame of Data Theory or Grounded Theory, an analysis will be developed,
based on data from reality, in dialogue with the theoretical references of Collective Health
and Sociology to answer the questions in the research process. The data to be analyzed for
the construction of the narrative and the discussion of this local experience refer to the
process registered in the period from 2016 to 2019 and will be collected from the Collective
archive, which maintains documents in text, audio and image formats containing
testimonials of women, documents sent to institutions and records of dialogues and analyzes
of women's health access to prenatal, childbirth, abortion and puerperium in the locoregion.
In order to guarantee ethical conduct, the Free and Informed Consent Terms (TCLE) will be
applied so that women authorize the use of their testimony in the research, as well as for the
public management organizations in the use of the institutional documents in the research.
Finally, it is hoped to present theoretical and practical arguments that demonstrate the
relationship between obstetric violence and social participation, presenting the paradigmatic
and democratizing character of the concept and practices for health, reproductive rights and
women's political action.
