RESUMO:

Bullying in the school context materializes as repeated violence, characterized by purposeful physical and psychological aggressions against someone who has difficulty defending themselves, culminating in a relationship of control and oppression over the victim. Cyberbullying, in turn, can be understood as a variation or extension of bullying involving the use of some technology related to the virtual world. The objective of this study is to characterize the phenomenon of bullying and cyberbullying, seeking to investigate its relationship with sociodemographic, psychological and contextual factors in students of the integrated courses of the Federal Institute of Science and Technology of Bahia -IFBA, campus Eunápolis. This is a quantitative, descriptive, relational, ex post facto, cross-sectional study. The minimum sample size will be 191 students and the instruments for measuring the variables will be the bullying victimization scale, the bullying behavior scale, the Rosenberg self-esteem scale, the multidimensional life satisfaction scale, the responsiveness scale and parental requirement, the dimensions of discipline inventory (DDI), the negative peer influences scale, the neighborhood safety scale and the perception of school environment scale, in addition to a sociodemographic questionnaire. The scales employed are either validated for Brazil or will be translated and adapted for this study, and will undergo a preliminary validation process, through Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA). For data analysis, descriptive and inferential statistics will be used, the latter to investigate possible correlations between variables (between age and bullying behaviors), group differences (if the behaviors involved in bullying - victimization and aggression - differ between gender; if adolescents who are victims and aggressors differ in terms of parental educational practices, perception of negative behaviors by their peers and perception of exposure to community and school violence) and, finally, to investigate the effects of socioeconomic level, ethnicity and time of entry into the course on bullying behaviors. All analyzes will be performed on IBM SPSS Statistics 25 and the level of significance adopted will be 0.05. It is hoped that this research can contribute to the development of preventive actions to combat bullying and cyberbullying within the institution studied, since its results will allow to further identify the weight of different factors involved in explaining the occurrence of the phenomenon in this particular context.
